Microsoft Corp. on Tuesday unveiled its next Windows operating system, Windows 10 well the first question that will come to your mind is what happened with windows 9
The other thing they did was the ability to use the store apps which used to run full screen and doesn't allowed to work simultaneously alongside other windows.
This was added to all store apps. The apps also supports snapping on the windows by dragging them on the sides. Plus they've added some other things to it. So when you have two or more apps or windows running and you snap one app then there will be a prompt for other remaining apps for the remaining. The store apps now can be resized maximised and restored just like normal apps
Well 7 (ate) 9 so 10 or something
Some people say that its because people might get confuse 9 with 98
Windows 10 is the perfect mix of windows 7 and the windows 8. It has many features of the windows 7 which they ditched in the windows 8, combined with the some touches from windows 8. They seems to provide more productivity with this version by enabling them to use the OS with variety of input devices. Which windows 8 failed to provide for desktop users
There aren't any massive UI changes instead they have worked to improve the core usability for different users. The icons in the file explorer and desktop are changed. Chances are they will revamp the UI more before the final launch

The first thing that's you'll see that the start menu is back which was removed from the windows 8 and lot of users complained about it. They've tweaked it a bit to look nice. It follows the flat UI from windows 8 and applied to the start menu and it looks decent.
When you press the start menu you get the frequently used apps in the middle and pinned apps on top
The other half of start menu is assigned to the live tiles instead of the shortcuts like seen on windows 7. The area can be increased or decreased by adding additional tiles or removing them
The live tiles can be moved or resized. The start menu itself can also be resized to suit the screen size or user. you can also search the files like in the windows 7 but now it also shows results from web.

There are also jump lists as seen on windows 7 which takes place of the tiles when expanded

Task View button |
Now many people who run the many tasks may be use the taskbar to switch to different windows
To help users multitask even more they've added a new task view button on the taskbar which will give users a brief preview of all the running apps and windows which can be closed from there
This can also be used by using the alt+tab key combination

The main drawback of the windows 8 was that it was touch friendly the new version is made to be keyboard and mouse friendly
Microsoft’s Joe Belfiore also demonstrated the little changes in the command prompt app by finally introducing the copy and paste feature which users demanded for a very long time.
They also said to have a unified app store to download, purchase and update apps. The new update sure looks promising and they hope to get it to all types of users and devices
The charms bar is still there when swiping from right to toggle quick settings they said to change the UI of it (this feature will only work for touchscreen devices). And when you swipe from left you get the same preview of all the running apps as you do when pressing the alt+tab keys(task view). This will users with touchscreen to switch between apps
Another feature they showed was the ability to morph the UI according to the input devices available.this feature being know as the continuum.
So it senses if it has a keyboard or a touchscreen and when you detach the keyboard a pop up appears asking to switch to tablet mode and all the apps run as tablet UI and vive versa
