Can overcharging damage your smartphone?

Should you buy a nexus 6

This latest nexus phone would be the 6th in the series the nexus 6 aka 'shamu' it was launched on October 16 2014, time place
This time it is made by motorola it has very impressive hardware and is available at 649$

Its predecessor nexus 5 aka 'hammerhead' also it was made by LG and had same price now it is available for 349$ for 16gb and 399$ for 16gb

The phones looks world apart as they are made by different manufacturers which add their own design to the built both the phones looks great. The volume rocker is located on the left side on nexus 5... And the power button on right... Speaker position is changed the nexus 5 has lower single speaker whereas nexus 6 has stereo speakers which should provide great experience while watching movies, videos or playing games. The phones display is bigger on nexus 5 which can be good for watching movies but not for carrying around so this is a big differentiating point

Both the devices have excellent performance. The nexus 6 is upgraded processor(snapdragon 805 clocked at 2.56ghz) and is definitely faster than nexus 5 on paper
But saying that nexus 5 is no slouch
It has a snapdragon 800 processor (2.27ghz) which is more than sufficient for any task

The nexus 6 has 3gb ram compared to 2gb in the nexus 5 which on paper means that it can handle more tasks. The GPU is upgraded from adreno 330 to adreno 420 which doesn't necessarily means that you'll see better graphics. It depends upon the games the nexus 5 handles all games without breaking a sweat on highest graphic setting and has finest detail and great 3D, motion and shadows reproduction. But the adreno 450 will handle tasks with less effort so this means better efficiency. Doesn't mean adreno 420 is no of use its 40% faster than adreno 330

The camera on the nexus 5 is decent 8 mp f/2.3 shooter capable of shooting videos at1080p at 30fps. The nexus 6 has a 13mp camera with an aperture of f/2.0 which can record 4k videos. Nexus 5 has a front camera of 1.3mp which may feel outdated as many phones are getting bigger sensors on front because of selfie trends. But it's performs well during sufficient light during video calls. Whereas nexus 6 has a 2mp camera which is better and performs better than nexus 5 in low light conditions and captures more pixels and has bigger resolution

The most noticeable change in the nexus 6 is the display its very much bigger than nexus 5 's 4.95inch it is 5.9 inch which puts the N6 to the phablet category it has a 2k resolution compared to the N5 's 1080p resolution but this doesn't mean better images and more sharpness, the resolution for a display of that much size is unnecessary as human eye cannot distinguish the so much dense pixels even they exists. So huge TV's with 2k displays might work but on a phone they are just a waste of power as human eye cannot distinguish beyond 300 PPI.

Which brings us to the battery life on both devices now the nexus 5 was accused of having terrible battery life considering it had a tiny 2300mah battery which have hardly 4hours screen on time on stock ROM and kernel but with the android L the new API's and ART runtime will increase the battery life of N5 that might give N5 a little push to last a little longer. The battery on nexus 6 is bigger 3220mah which should give the phone more charge give a screen on time of upto 6hours also considering the fact that it now has to power a 2k display nexus 6 also has express charging which will get you to 6 hours of use from only 15 minutes of charging

Final verdict, nexus 6 is a great device and has better camera and a bigger battery but nexus 5 still is a powerful device. So is it worth spending the money to upgrade i would say no and wait for the next successor. But if you own nexus 4 and thinking to upgrade you may go with nexus 6.
