Camera FV-5 update brings manual controls using new camera 2 api

FGAE has completely rewritten the camera FV-5 so that it can use the new camera2 api which is available in android 5.0. Camera2 API offers many manual controls over device's camera which were not possible with previous API meaning the new features will only work with lollipop. The new features include

  • RAW capture- it captures the in DNG format which is uncompressed file of an image in which usually DSLRs shoot. This offers great ability to post process image without loosing quality. This is only available in pro version
  • New shutter speed mode which now allows you to manually set your shutter speed. So you can control for how mili seconds the shutter is opened so if done right this could mean better low light images with very less noise
  • You can also manually focus instead of touch to focus which allows great productivity if you want to experiment in macro or have bokeh effects but camera auto focuses somewhere else. You just need to slide your finger vertically.
  • All the parameters are now displayed live on the screen before even the shot has been taken

Google still has to update its camera app to make use of the new API but this is an example of what the new API could do. There is also an experimental L camera which uses the camera 2 API but it is experimental and not available in playstore yet. Anyway The update is out check the playstore and if you haven't installed it yet you should give it a try. The UI is looks a bit professional ish but you'll get to know many new parameters experiment with them and tell if you like it
