On (21 January) Microsoft hosted a life event showcasing the final build of windows 10 and some other concepts and future plans that we can expect from company in 2-3 years. They demonstrated various improvements and new features for windows 10 as well as Xbox platforms. However They didn't discussed much about the WP10 OS stating to preview it in February after super bowl.
Here are the few things that sums up the whole live event
The new look
The smart menu is back, taskbar changes and many UI changes that were also covered in windows 10 preview. you can read here
surface hub
Microsoft showcased it's Microsoft surface hub which is a really big tablet with a 4k display which supports multi touch and multi stylus input. This can be used to make presentations and make Skype calls and use it as a whiteboard and also save discussions and share them easily.
Gaming
The new Xbox app for windows 10 allows you to voice chat and send messages to other players on Xbox
-you can save videos of your games by pressing "windows+G" and share them easily online
-directX 12 will allow battery saving (upto 30%) and will improve graphics
-you'll be able to stream your Xbox games to PC or tablet (will be made available later)
Web (spartan)
Windows 10 will finally ditch internet explorer and will include a new browser which will be named spartan and according to company this will be best browser ever. It supports
-annonations, meaning you can write directly on web pages and save them for later sharing
-you can also save webpages for offline viewing
-support for pdf files
-integration of cortana into spartan for example if you start typing weather in the search box you'll get the preview of your result without needing to hit enter.
HoloLens
This is a new concept which is made possible by new API. It is an holographic augmented reality which will be accessed using HoloLens it will display information by superimposing it on real world.
-you can also create objects in 3d render them in holo studio and print them in 3d
-it understands hand gestures and finger gestures like kinect and gives a response in real time without any controller
Cortana
-Microsoft demoed Cortana on PC with a few quick questions about the weather, flight tracking and other locations based queries.
-You can also dictate emails, search for apps and ask her to perform tasks like “Play my music”
-cortana learns your preferences and also considers weather and time and other factors to give you best recommendations
windows 10 for mobile
Microsoft showed some features for displays that are smaller than 8 inches
Some of the new features include
-pushing Recent Apps to the top of the Apps list
-syncing Action center with PC
-Skype integration with messaging
-They also previewed how Office apps will look like on Windows 10 mobile.
-Also Recent files will roam between PC & OneDrive and mobile and they’ll now include wireless printing and Miracast.

Upgrade
The windows 10 will be free for windows 7 and 8.1 users for a period of 1 year
