Can overcharging damage your smartphone?

What today's smart watches needs to be succeed

Smartwatches were a trend last year and manufacturers will continue to launch their second gen watches. Many new manufacturers are also stepping in the smart watch game. While common thing is that they all run android wear. Apart from the apple watch which also didn't seemed to impress anyone also had very limited functionality.

Smartwatches of today are merely an extension to our smart watches they can just show notifications and you still need to pull out your smartphone to take action. Their functionality is very limited due to need they need to be paired to a smartphone to work. Battery life is another issue with them.

What they need to be?

Well first step would be inclusion of a built in radio - smartphones needs a another smartphone so that they could work without pairing to a smartphone
- interface - They also need apps designed to work with smart watches and the interface that can be used easily on such small sized displays
- Battery life needs to be improved drastically on these devices - today's smartwatches last only upto a day with normal usage. They need something really game changing for this.

- New features that are practical and not just gimmicky - smart watches needs to have features and functions which smartphones can't have, this will give an advantage to them.

LG teased their new watch at MWC yesterday which runs custom OS. The best part is that it has an LTE & WiFi radio, which means it's an stand alone device and doesn't needs an smartphone to be paired to work. It looks very promising looks like LG is finally closing the gap between smartwatches being an extension to smartphones to standalone devices

Samsung also had launched it's tizen powered watch with built in data radio. But failed to get attention because of OS mainly.
