Google released the Android 'm' dev preview just after the google i/o for developers. As they showcased there aren't any major UI changes to system this is more of a polishing update. Saying that there are some subtle changes or also can be called as bug fixes
First up they finally figured out the volume slider and is not sorted and easy to understand. Turning down volume down activates vibrate and further pressing the volume down button triggers DND mode.
There is also a quick toggle for DND
Another (major) UI change is the app drawer. This time it's continuous vertical scrolling this is the first time in stock android to see vertical scrolling. There is also a search bar for apps. Many users complaint about it and reported to revert it back to horizontal page scrolling.
This time Google also included dark theme for settings menu which is very appreciated by users. And is easy on eyes during night. There's also an auto mode which will change the theme according to time.
The Google settings which was first displayed in app drawer is now a part of settings menu. And now has a smart lock passwords which saves passwords of your apps associated with Google
The camera app has a new ring which appears when focussing. No manual controls yet by implementing camera2 API
The running apps page which was part of apps tab is not seperated and is available on developer options as running services
When connected to USB it displays a new menu with charge only and midi options. You can find the option in settings - developer options - select USB configuration
There is a new boze mode which enhances the standby time of device by controlling app wakeups. You can ignore optimisation of each app in settings - battery - ignore optimizations
You can choose the AP band between 5ghz & 2.5ghz when using WiFi hotspot giving more control to user
The lockscreen has been changed a bit. With the new bold looking clock and font. Also swipe from left reveals google now instead of dialler app.
Long press on softkeys reveals new 'now on tap' which reads the context from your current screen and displays relevant information
