Google I/O - what to expect

Google i/o is just around the corner we already have some rumours of what google might reveal. we are likely to have a preview of android M (marshmallow most probably) some new services and updates.

  • theres an update for android for work too that gives a user two versions of an app—one for work data and one for personal data—and keeps everything separate. Somehow the new Android for Work update will bring Android to all kinds of workplaces.
  • theres a updated version of google's cloud messaging service, a very little is known about the details of this update
  • A session called "Your app, now available hands-free" will allow users to control an app entire using voice controls. this will be useful for conditions like driving and stuff
  • realtime satellite earth imaging - google recently brought skybox for 500 million dollars will now implement it into google maps
  • A session called "Designing games for Google Cast" will discuss "designing for the mobile and television experience on multiple screens, " Another session talks about "using Android and iOS mobile devices as game controllers to unleash new interaction models for Chromecast and other Cast devices
  • new wearable tech - "wearables that we hope will blow your socks off.as google said. this might point to new technology only time will tell
  • polymer 1.0 - this will enable interactive web just like the material design apps on android. you can check the curent 0.8 version demo here
  • also Google is planning to give Android users more control over application permissions. Android users will soon be able to choose whether an application has access to things like photos, contacts or the phone’s location, for example.
