Pixel phones: Google's answer to iPhone, did they screw up?

https://madeby.google.com/

Last night (IST) Google unveiled the new pixel phones that's aimed directly at iPhones. These phones from hardware to software are made by the same team which were going to make the now discontinued project Ara modular phones ( owned by google )
The phone's renders were leaked before the official unveiling. And it didn't impressed many people many people did criticize it and now after it's official, reactions are pretty much the same
Here's what Google nailed it
Build
-The unibody aluminum body looks great, premium and justifies that price tag
-no camera bump which is very common yet annoying in today's smartphones
Hardware
-First phone to have a snapdragon 821
-4GB ram
-12MP primary camera which is rated best ever by DXOmark.
-Headphone Jack (curious to see how DAC of pixel phones performs)
Software
-Runs Nougat out of the box however the software running on the phones in preview was a little bit different indication of a future update to nougat
-camera algorithm is updated and has zero shutter lag, camera opens faster than ever.
-pixel owners get unlimited Google cloud storage for full resolution photos and 4K videos
Here's what they could've done better
-Those bezels at the bottom and top are huge
-The fingerprint sensor (although is matter of preference) makes more sense to be at the front and is more functional that way. Because you can use it while phone is on desk and it can double as a home button
-Could've used that bottom bezel for hardware buttons (although Google stopped that after nexus phones) hardware buttons are more practical because you get whole screen to use. And the shitty reason that hardware buttons take up screen is well false. Take galaxy series or one plus phones for example. Also AMOLED screen may suffer from burn at navigation bar area of screen like it did on some Nexus 6
