Now that we have the best from both major players in tech world. Let's compare and see which one is worth
[Note - worth ≠ cost of a device]
Build
First let's see build quality. Both phones are flagship with a hefty price tag. Build quality is expected to be top of the line. iPhones are known for their premium build this time Google or rather HTC nailed it too. Both phones are build from premium materials. But iPhone looks and feels more sturdy in hand and looks pretty.

Not to mention iPhone is now water resistant. Which should be standard for flagships now. And it's a shame Google couldn't achieve this. Both the phones have big ugly top and bottom bezels but iPhone has touch ID home button with 3D touch built in while in case of pixel, its just a waste of space.
Hardware
Now this is subjective both phones run different OSes, with different needs. Android is more demanding while iOS is easy on resources. On paper pixel looks like a clear winner. But reality is completely different.

iPhone's processor is still one of the fastest chip in single core benchmarks and real world test prove that plus it's storage is NVMe which is ridiculously fast and gives iPhone lead when it comes to app/game opening speeds. These timings are less than half when compared to pixel's storage. However lower capacity iPhones have slower read/write speeds but still are way ahead of pixel's
Display
Both the phone have top the line displays, while pixel has an AMOLED panel which has better dynamic range and can deliver true blacks. iPhone has improved its retina display (its LCD) and now supports wider color gamut and is brighter than ever. I still prefer AMOLED because of infinite contrast. others might have different preference
Camera
Google's claim to have achieved best rating by DXOmark was pretty impressive and it delivers that too. And is neck to neck with iPhone's & galaxy S7 's camera. It's HDR+ mode is insanely fast maybe the fastest in world.
However there were reports of people having a lens glare on their pictures/videos, which might be a disaster. Also the phone doesn't have OIS now to back that up they have impressive EIS but that works well only for videos for still pictures. It can't benefit in low light situations, so it won't use slower shutter speeds and will instead use higher ISO which might turn images grainy but the larger sensor size compromises that and images are really good in low light. iPhone's cameras were always good. Although not best (that's Samsung) but images are really sharp and the have lots of detail. iPhone also benefits from an OIS.

Software
Both the phones run latest OSes from their manufacturer. It all comes to the personal preference. the comparison between iOS and android can be a topic for a whole new blog. Both the manufacturers have their advantages and disadvantages. But to highlight something new (that is biggest feature of pixel phone) is google assistant. Siri is older and was considered best assistant then came along Cortana but google was lacking behind. now google entered in the game and crushed it. its the best assistant. hands down
Conclusion
Pixel lacks behind iPhone in many places
