Why Pixel 2 won't be impressive.

It's only a few weeks till pixel 2 launch and there's already a lots of leaks which tells pretty much everything about phone's hardware. And it doesn't look impressive at all ( as compared to iPhone 8's hardware ) We'll see better camera, OIS maybe, or dual cameras however it's very unlikely it will have 4k 60fps. So nothing new to get excited. The pixel 2 will use Snapdragon 835 chipset from Qualcomm which is pretty good but really weak ( 2 times ) in front of Apple's A11 bionic chip. Sadly Google doesn't make their own CPUs and Qualcomm doesn't have anything faster to offer untill a long time. It will have the same ufs 2.1 storage as Galaxy S8 which is very slow as compared to Apple's nVMe based storage. Just give up on UFS already sigh . It will improve on many design flaws that original pixel had, but there's nothing it will offer that Galaxy S8 doesn't ( talking about hardware purely ). And software isn...

Pixel 2 running snapdragon 835 benchmarked

https://madeby.google.com/intl/en_in/phone/ Google's home baked phone Pixel was the made to compete directly with iPhone. But upon release in 2016, it got mixed reviews. Despite having top of the line hardware and camera quality, it lacked on a few basic features that made it difficult to suggest to anyone and its high price didn't seem justifiable. Google has already started working on pixel 2 and a prototype phone code named Taimen, has been benchmarked on PrimateLabs website . Its running Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 @ 1.90 GHz 1 processor, 8 cores with 4Gb RAM which is standard for a 2017 smartphone. The phone scored pretty impressive scores. But still gets beaten by iPhone 7 in single core tests. Scores are some what similar to Samsung's Galaxy S8 in both single core and multi core. Pixel's vanilla android would make it snappier than Galaxy S8. The phone's specifications are still unknown and wont be launched anytime soon. keep in mind this was te...

Microsoft's fluent design is a mix of android's material design and iOS blurred UI

Windows is all set to get a major overhaul to its UI with the upcoming fall update. All the buzz is about Fluent design (previously called project neon) its basically updates current design of elements which is very flat and opaque and adds a depth and transparency to it.. Here is a video showing five key elements that would be like guidelines for the developers to make their apps on There are five elements that will build the whole UI and framework of the apps and the OS itself. to summarize : Light Adds a pointer to elements just below the cursor / pointer. It also illuminates elements on which the focus is. this will be used widely in hololens and surface pen interface rather than a mouse interface. Depth Adds shadow elements which creates a depth and parallax effect. which is similar to material design in android. This will also change depth depending on apps and with correct animations, it can look a lot less boring as compared to current flat design. Motio...

How Google searches through 100,000,000 gigabytes in seconds

Ever wondered how it takes milli-seconds to display million results when you search on Google, When it takes your PC minutes to search a single document you saved 10 minutes ago?? Thats because google uses crawling. Crawlers like Googlebot, look at webpages and follow links on those pages. They bring data about those webpages back to Google’s servers. The crawl process begins with a list of web addresses from past crawls and sitemaps provided by website owners.  With the robots.txt file, site owners can choose not to be crawled by Googlebot, or they can provide instructions about how to process pages on their sites. This is known as Crawling . It scans for every word, its location, metadata, links in a webpage. This is a continious process and takes a lot of computational power. Now that google all this data that it mined, Next step is to organize that data by indexing those webpages. It uses Algorithms to index that data based on different fa...

What's new in android O

What's new in O? Android O introduces a number of new features and APIs. Here's are just a few new things for you to try Background limits:  Android now has additional automatic limits on what apps can do in the background, in three main areas:  implicit broadcasts, background services,  and location updates.  These changes will make it easier to create apps that have minimal impact on a user's device and battery. Background limits represent a significant change in Android. Notification channels:  Android O also introduces notification channels, which are new app-defined categories for notification content. Channels let developers give users fine-grained control over different kinds of notifications — users can block or change the behavior of each channel individually, rather than managing all of the app's notifications together. Android O also adds new visuals and grouping to notifications that make it easie...

Google is working to bring Allo to desktop

Google's communications vice president tweeted a sneak peak of Allo working on desktop. This is still in development phase. So far there are millions of users of this app. but it still lacks a lot of features which are available in WhatsApp. Google doesn't seem to like the idea of a unified messaging app. They also renamed Google messenger app (SMS only) which is now android messages. it will also support RTF. and will be default messaging app for android. Combining Allo and messenger would've made more sense, as more people will use it because it will come pre-installed. Still in early development, but coming to a desktop near you... #GoogleAllo #SneakPeek pic.twitter.com/f7QNFH7IHO — Nick Fox (@RealNickFox) February 24, 2017

WhatsApp adds a new way to add status messages

Inspired by instagram stories. New WhatsApp statuses will show more info than just text. This is what the blogpost said It was just eight years ago, in February 2009, when we started writing the first lines of code for what would eventually become WhatsApp. The original idea behind the project was to build an application that lets your friends and other contacts know what you're up to. This was months before we added messaging. The first version of our app looked like this: Even after we added messaging in the summer of 2009, we kept the basic "text only" status functionality in WhatsApp. Every year, when Brian and I would plan projects to work on, we always talked about improving and evolving this original "text only" status feature. We are excited to announce that, coinciding with WhatsApp's 8th birthday on February 24, we are reinventing the status feature. Starting today, we are rolling out an update to status, which allows you to share photos and vi...

Crash course on file systems

File system in computing means how a storage devices stores and reads data. To put that in perspective, Library would represent a storage device (say a hard drive) in that case, book shelfs will represent file system and individual books will represent data. So its easier to find data in if u know where to find it. Now lets see some most common file systems and where they are used FAT 8 bit (file allocation table) one of the oldest file systems designed for floppy disks and was adopted for use in hard drives and other storage devices. but has many limitations and not used today. FAT12/FAT16/FAT 32 (improved versions of file allocation system) It had many advantages over original one. each one is progressively improved on previous one, FAT32 being the latest one. it is widely used in flash drives but cannot accept file sizes more than 32MB for FAT 12, 2GB for FAT16 and 4GB for FAT32. This file system is soon going to be outdated as file sizes are increasing because of high resoluti...
